Malayala Manorama Daily - success
The first issue of Malayala Manorama was published on 22nd March 1890,
it was from the own press by Malankara Metropolitan Pulikkottil Joseph
Mar Dionysious II of the Indian Orthodox Church.
The name Malayala Manorama was chosen by the poet, Raghavan Nambiar,
Villuvarvattathu from Tiruvalla. Kerala Varma approved the symbol
which is a part of the Travancore kingdom symbol. Within two years,

History of Malayala Manorama begun in ending 18th Century when
Malayala Manorama was founded on 14th March 1888 by Kandathil Varghese
Mappillai at Kottayam, a small town Travancore. The name Malayala
Manorama came out of an elite brainstorming. The great poets Kerala
Verma, Valiyakohithampuran and Vilvattathu Raghavan Nambiar made it

The Malayala Manorama company started with one hundred shares for Rs
100 each, and investor paid in four equal installments. A local
craftsman, Konthi Achari hired to make quality Malayalam types for the
imported press. Kandathil Varghese Mappillai was just 31 when he
founded the Malayala Manorama, at the age of 21 – he already begun his
career as an Editor in Kerala Mitram, a Malayalam News paper run by
Devji Bhimji (Gujrati Businessman) in Kochi.
