Electrical Engineering Manager – Hampshire – UK Our client has been in the business of automation since 1989 and has a strong and satisfied customer base throughout the UK and Ireland, including both automotive and other light fabrication industries. They currently seek an Electrical Engineering Manager to join the team in Totton, Southampton with at least a minimum of 5 years experience within a similar role. This is a key challenging role within the business offering considerable opportunity, responsibility and job satisfaction. You will have responsibility for leading an integrated team of Engineers along with project management and overall electrical/software design responsibility for the projects. Key responsibilities of the role will include: - Full man management responsibility for the Electrical Engineering Team including day to day management and leadership, ongoing development, motivation and training Project Management responsibility. Including scheduling, liaising with the sales team and or customers to clarify specification requirements, managing the project team and involvement with customer acceptance whilst all the time being aware of and achieving company commercial goals - Concepting of electrical designs, operator interfaces and plc software. Then overseeing the detailing of those designs along with some own "hands on" electrical and software design responsibilities - Technical guidance for the Mechanical Engineering Team - Risk Assessment, CE Marking, Standards and Documentation Responsibilities Applicants will fit the following skills and knowledge profile: - Personality: Dynamic, proactive engineer able to communicate well at all levels. Will be an excellent team player able to work with and > manage a lean and technically capable multi disciplined engineering team. Customer focused and commercially aware. - Education and Training: Degree qualified with a core competence in Electrical Engineering and Controls. - Personal Situation: Must be prepared to travel to customer sites throughout the UK. Flexible and able to work overtime both weekdays and weekends when required, sometimes at short notice. Must have clean or near clean driving licence and no criminal record. - Specific Job Skills: A solid technical background. Experience of managing a multi-disciplined engineering team. Technical project management experience with an ability to plan and schedule projects effectively. Electrical control and software design experience along with a good appreciation of mechanical design. An ability to understand and interpret customer specifications and product drawings. Well used to delivering quality projects on time. Experience of welding technologies and/or 6-axis robots would be a distinct advantage. - IT Skills: Should be proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Project, Internet and E-mail plus AutoCAD, AUTOCAD Electrical, RS Logix, E-Designer and GX Developer. A knowledge of 3D modelling/simulation techniques would be a distinct advantage. - Literacy and Numeracy: Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations, procedures and technical documentation. Able to understand costing spreadsheets with a basic understanding of business finance and gross margin percentages For Jobs based in the UK it is necessary to have the requisite work permit and it is absolutely unlawful to enter and work in the UK without a valid permit Open only for HSMP/WHM/other Permit holders only.
