Ingredients for Pavakka Theeyal recipe
Bitter gourd [‘Pavakka’] : 250 gm Grated coconut : 1 Chilly powder : 1 tbsp Coriander : ½ tbsp Turmeric : ½ tsp Salt required Cocum [ Kodampuli] : 2 flakes Tamarind [soluted] : 1 tsp Mustard : one pinch Curry leaves
How to make Pavakka Theeyal?
Simmer the bitter gourd [‘Pavakka’ slices] adding turmeric powder, salt and cocum [‘kodampuli flakes]
In ½ cup water. keep aside. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the grated coconut, small onion slices. When it becomes brown add chilly, turmeric and coriander powder. Stir it till it also becomes brown. Mix the simmered Bitter gourd[ ‘pavakka’]. Heat the oil in a pan and split the mustard and sauté the curry leaves which also add to the ‘ Theeyal’ .
