Bitter guard recipe



Easy way to cook -Pavakka Thoran
Serves for 3  


Ingredients for Bitter guard recipe


Bitter guard small – 2 nos
Coconut grated – ½ cup
Small onion – 6 nos
Curry leaves – a few
Green chilly – 3 nos
Salt – to taste
Ginger – 1/4 inch

How to make Bitter guard?

Remove seeds from bitter guard and finely chop. Cut onion, green chillies and ginger into small pieces. Take a vessel and put bitter gurd, chilli, onion, ginger and salt. Add little water (less than ¼ cup) to cook. Place one lid. Put the vessel on lower flame. When it is half cooked, stir and add curry leaves, grated coconut. Take out the vessel when whole water evaporates.

To reduce the bitter taste, cut the bitter guard into two and dip in salt water before chopping.

It is tastier when cooked in clay pots.

Do not add more water, as it will spoil the whole taste

Instead of adding water to cook, try this also.
Heat 2 tbs oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add whole things together and place the lid.
