What are the prevailing taxi rates in Kochi? Can you suggest the rates for Maruti Swift, Innova and other cars?

I have been living in Kochi since my childhood and know many taxi drivers and taxi operators. Before I explain the taxi rates in Kochi, let me share a few details;

If you are coming to Kochi from other locations, there are many travel options in Kochi:

1. Train - Aluva, Ernakulam North and Ernakulam South are the major railway stations in Kochi. All these railway stations are well connected with Taxi network, Autorikshaws, Buses and Metro trains.

2. Bus - There are plenty of buses operating in Kochi. If you are comfortable with public transport, you may depend on the bus to travel within the city and to other major cities in Kerala.

3. Metro Train - The metro rail network in Kochi covers the entire stretch of the city, starting from Aluva, ending in Tripunithura. 

4. Water Metro and Boat Services - If you are planning to visit the islands of Kochi, you may depend on the water metro and other boat services. Most of the islands are now connected by roads as well.

5. Taxi - For local travel, you may depend on Uber, which is reliable and easily accessible. However, if you have a lot of luggage or you want the cab to wait for you at various places, you may need to hire a Taxi in Kochi.

There are individual taxi owners/drivers as well as taxi operating agencies.

Maruti Swift DZire: INR 2,200 to INR 2,300 per day, 100km daily limit. Rs 18 per extra kilometer

Toyota Innova, 7 seater: INR 2,600 to INR 2,800 per day, 100km daily limit. Rs 20 per extra kilometer

Toyota Innova, 8 seater: INR 2,700 to INR 2,900 per day, 100km daily limit. Rs 20 per extra kilometer

Toyota Crysta: INR 3,000 to INR 3,500 per day, 100km daily limit. Rs 22 per extra kilometer

When I book an Uber Go (Maruti swift type),it usually costs me around Rs 350 to Rs 400 for a ride of 30 to 35 minutes. For shorter Journeys,such as from Center Square Mall to Fort Kochi,it costs Rs 250 to Rs 300. I love the fact that Uber tells me the fare up front, So I know the price before I accept it. For a distance of 10 to 12 kilometers, I generally pay Rs 250 to Rs 400,depending on the traffic. It makes budgeting my trip very convenient. 

Based on my  regular travel experience in Kochi, taxi fares generally depend on distance, vehicle type, and time of travel. For short city trips, local taxis usually charge a base fare .  Uber and Ola are commonly used in the city, with prices starting lower for short rides but increasing the price sometimes depends on time. For airport transfers, fixed fares are often followed, usually ranging from 900 to 1,600 . For full-day or outstation trips, most taxi operators offer package rates based on a fixed number of kilometres, with extra charges applied if the limit is exceeded. Overall, taxi services in Kochi are easily available, reliable, and reasonably priced compared to many other major cities.
